Human-Centered Education in the Digital Age: Voices from Asia and Beyond


INTRODUCTION

Thank you for your interest in participating in the 15th Biennial Conference of the Comparative Education Society of Asia (CESA 2027), to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 22–26 November 2027. The conference is hosted by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) in partnership with Hiroshima University (Japan), BINUS University, The SMERU Research Institute, and the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI).


CESA 2027 will bring together scholars, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to advance comparative and international education research across Asia and beyond. The conference theme, “Human-Centered Education in the Digital Age: Voices from Asia and Beyond,” places people at the heart of educational transformation in an era of rapid digitalisation and technological advancement, including artificial intelligence (AI). It invites scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to reflect on how education can remain responsive to learners’ needs, experiences, values, well-being, and diverse contexts while harnessing technology to enhance educational quality and access. By highlighting “Voices from Asia and Beyond,” the conference creates a space for diverse perspectives to explore how cultural, social, and local contexts can shape more inclusive, equitable, meaningful, and human-centred approaches to education in the digital age.


The conference welcomes submissions addressing the following sub-themes:
